Barbara Alvarez's 1992 HATCHBACK

“STANGIT”
This 1992 un-restored factory stock 5.0 GT hatchback is my daily driver with over 200,150 + original miles as of August 7, 2007. It has not been kept in a garage or
under a carport. It is driven and thoroughly enjoyed.
It is Ultra Blue Metallic with Titanium Gray lower section.
The only things that have been changed are the dash gauges, which were changed to white (which I had done for better visibility). I also added an engine stabilizer bar under the hood which really makes a difference when taking a corner. A few years ago I had an exhaust leak, but I loved that sound. I didn’t do anything about it until someone mentioned it, then I went to get new mufflers. I asked for some that sounded like I still had a hole in my mufflers. They recommended Flowmaster and they also changed my exhaust pipes to 2 ½” pipes. I really like the sound when the engine starts. The only other thing that I changed was the air filter to K & N.
Here is some information on what my car came with:

Sonny Alvarez's 1972 Ranchero

We bought the Ranchero from a used car lot in 1984. It was previously a one owner and was in pretty good shape. It was light pea soup green with a vinyl top that was kind of in bad condition. My wife Barbara, and I took off the vinyl top only to find that it had a nice paint job under it. It showed that the paint on the rest of the vehicle was faded, but still in good condition. No major dents or body damage. I decided to have it painted and we chose a Dark Green Metallic with Silver/Gray Metallic, a couple of years later. I started taking it to car shows in 1989 and that began years of fun with it. A couple of years later, a friend of mine and I redid the headliner and seats. In 1996, I had Rhino Lining installed in the bed. That has proven to be a God send as it is often called upon to carry dirt, bark, plants, garbage etc. It also gets used for just good old transportation, when we have a vehicle that has gone down. In August of 1997 another friend and I took the Ranchero down to the metal and repainted it. We changed it to an Emerald Green Metallic with Silver-Gray Metallic. Close to what we had it painted earlier. It has won quite a few awards since I have been showing it. It also has appeared in several issues of Cruiz'n Magazine over the years.
I take it to Ford Shows, Hot Rod Shows, Mustang Shows, All-Type Car Shows. I like to get out there, showing it and visiting with people that come over and talk to me about it. There are a lot of people out there that have had a Ranchero and have fond memories and like to talk about them. I get a kick out of some spectators that come up to it and say “Nice El Camino”. I finally found a bumper sticker that I put on my dash that says “NO, this is not an El Camino”. They see that and have a good laugh.
This is my baby, but, we also have several Mustangs in the household along with my 1988 Lincoln Mark VII. Then there is the token Chevy Truck that our son Dan has. My wife, Barbara, shows her 1992 Mustang GT and my son, Dave, also shows his 2004 Roush when he can. Dave also has a modified 1975 Mustang II Ghia coupe, which is not presently on the road. I guess that you could say that we are a car enthusiast family. I belong to several car clubs: Mustangs Northwest, Washington Ranchero Enthusiasts, Fly by Night Cruisers, Mustang Club of America and of course The Renegade Mustang Club. I enjoy driving it to shows all over Washington, Oregon and Canada.
